There are a few cards in the deck there specifically to answer this card and protect ourselves long enough to get a manipulation off vs that deck. I think it’s one of the best cards in standard at the moment, especially for a deck built to support it. This deck is really good against every card in that deck except 1: Sarkhan. Nexus was far from a strong matchup for the deck before, and with its departure the deck doesn’t need to pack negates in the sideboard. The major advantage of this is that nexus gets shut down the hardest by teferi, so it is a deck seeing almost no play. Additionally, counters are quite bad currently at protecting non-creature threats because of Dovin’s Veto. You’ll notice the complete lack of any counters in the 75 in my deck, which I think it pretty unheard of for a blue deck. Here’s my current decklist: Īs you all know, Little Teferi has basically become the meta, which means that the old plan for the deck of holding up counter magic is completely unviable.

Thank you, Aaron, for picking up the deck, innovating, being an excellent pilot, and helping give it exposure! Now I’d like to talk about how the meta has changed, and the changes I’ve made to the deck in response. Looking at the MTGGoldfish page for his deck it seems his deck has changed a lot since then (the meta has changed a lot in a short amount of time). I want to shout out /u/aarongertler, who was at mythic #1 with his own version of the deck, which is incredibly impressive. Here’s the original thread for the deck: For this season the deck has changed a lot, because the meta has shifted so wildly. This is my third season in a row getting Mythic, the first and the this recent one being with this deck (middle one was a Nissa Finale deck I made but I don’t think it’s good in the current meta.) I wouldn’t keep playing and tinkering the deck if I didn’t think it was very good. I’ve been seeing a lot of people playing the deck and talking about it, and that makes me really happy and I hope people continue to do so. I’m the original creator of the Simic Mass Manipulation deck (also being called UG Theft).
